Eating an Elephant

When asked the question, "How do you eat an elephant?" The answer is relatively simple.  You take one bite at a time.  However, when you stand there looking at the insurmountable task of eating an entire elephant, it seems, in a word, impossible.
Well, in my case, it seems I am surrounded by elephants.  They are all in the room and EVERYONE is talking about them.  Moving into a new home, that has been abandoned for a year and needs significant TLC, stepping into new ministry opportunities, and figuring out the changing roles as well as learning everyday to be a better wife and mother (this is probably the biggest elephant) - these are all huge elephants and I am learning to take them on, one bite at a time.  Not an easy fate for a "high I" personality who wants it done and wants it done now.

God is granting me the patience to learn to set appropriate goals - ones that are attainable.  So I am trying.  All the while remembering that sometimes you have to take the stairs in order to reach the elephant too...

Food for thought...An elephant never forgets, but I wonder if he forgets that you ate him?  Or does his memory just transfer over to you so you never forget that you ate one.  Simple ramblings of a tired mom. Ciao!
