When the latter rain just feels like a storm

As a wife and mom, who is taking the stairs, today I am contemplating the fact that God promises the latter rains for the harvest.  We have asked for the latter rains.  We want the latter rains.  Well guess what, when they come and He grants us our request, guess what it feels like when the rains come!  A STORM!  A big, fat, lightning and thunder, dark cloud overhead storm!

So why does it feel like that?  Why is it when we get the very thing we know we need and that we asked for, do we feel the sting and pain of the storm and cry out for protection?

Zechariah 10:1-3 says:
"1 Ask the LORD for rain In the time of the latter rain. The LORD will make flashing clouds; He will give them showers of rain, Grass in the field for everyone. 2 For the idols speak delusion; The diviners envision lies, And tell false dreams; They comfort in vain. Therefore the people wend their way like sheep; They are in trouble because there is no shepherd."

I think many times the enemy tells us that the rain is a storm, and that we are unprotected.  Maybe we are!  Maybe we have wandered away from our shepherd.  Maybe we need to run to Him and find protection.  But many times I believe it is just the lies of the enemy.  I mean, Jesus was asleep in the boat - unafraid or worried.  If we have peace - the peace that passes all understanding - then we will see the so called storm for what it really is - the promised latter rains.  The rains that bring a harvest beyond anything we could imagine.  A rain that draws us closer to our shepherd to ensure our safety through it.

And even though it may feel like a terrible storm,  maybe, just maybe, we even get brave enough to tell the enemy to back off, stop talking to us because our Jesus has got this and we are going to be just fine.  At least I pray that is what I will do.
